The fetus developmentcontinues to mature, and it may change its position in the womb. During this phase, the amniotic fluid begins to decrease. Here are some other progress in the baby's development stages in the seventh month:

Week 25

Excess body fat causes fetal skin to become plump and wrinkle-free. The nervous system develops rapidly.

Week 26

The fetus produces melanin, determining skin and eye color. After birth, the fetus's lungs have surfactants, which help breathing.

Week 27

A fetus's eyes can open and blink. They also have eyelashes.

Week 28

The fetus may begin to bend its head in the womb as it prepares for birth. At the end of the seventh month, the fetus is about 14 to 15 inches long and weighs 2 to 3 pounds.
