Texas wins 9th in a row, first 'inside the opponent's house' in PS history

Game 3 of the WS, visiting Arizona.
3-1 win to take a 2-1 series lead.
Breaks Yankees' eight-game winning streak set 27 years ago

Major League Baseball's (MLB) Texas continued its undefeated postseason (PS) road record in the World Series (Game 7). Texas took a 2-1 lead in the series with a 3-1 victory in Game 3 of the WS on Aug. 31 against visiting Arizona.

With the win, Texas extended its unbeaten streak to nine road games dating back to Game 1 of the American League Wild Card Series against Tampa Bay on April 4. It is the first time in MLB history that a team has won nine straight PS visits in a single season. Until last year, the New York Yankees' eight-game winning streak en route to their 1996 WS title was the longest in history. Texas can extend its streak to 11 games, as it also travels for Games 4 and 5 of the WS.

After scoring just one run in Game 2 two days earlier, Texas' offense broke through with three runs in the top of the third inning. With two on and one out, leadoff hitter Marcus Simeon (33) lined a single to left-center off Arizona starter Brandon Part (25) for a 1-0 lead. Corey Seager (29), who came to the plate with the bases loaded, followed with a two-run home run over the right field wall. Arizona scored one run in the bottom of the eighth, but couldn't put the game away.

Texas was a stronger team at home (50-31, .617) than on the road (40-41, .494) in the regular season this year, but it was a different story in the PS. "We're trying to play well every day, no matter where we are (home or away)," said Seeger. Other than that, I don't know where to put the credit (for the road winning streak)," Seager said.
