WLSA's community includes CEOs, executives, entrepreneurs, foundations, educational institutions, scientists, and policy makers. It focuses on accelerating technology adoption to empower consumers and institutions, impacting chronic condition management, disease prevention, and enhancing the lives of the elderly and underserved globally.

Hosting events, providing guidance, and initiating policy initiatives for consumer healthcare empowerment, WLSA was founded in 1999 with key support from Qualcomm, Johnson & Johnson, and Triple Tree. Based in San Diego, a hub for wireless and life sciences, it encourages cross-sector collaboration for technological progress.

WLSA organizes networking events, roundtables, and industry panels, collaborating with partners like BIO, Biocom, CTIA, mHealth Summit, NIH, and NSF. It also addresses regulatory and legislative issues, advocating for efficient ecosystem performance through its Open Outcomes Based Regulation Policy Coalition.
