‘Yu-Jitsu’ Yoo Soo-young wins Black Combat MVP award

‘Yu-Jitsu’ Yoo Soo-young (bantamweight champion, 28) stands tall as the best athlete in Black Combat in 2024.

Yoo Soo-young was crowned the Most Valuable Player (MVP) at Black Combat's first regular awards ceremony, 'BLACK GLORIA AWARDS 01', held at the Mayfield Hotel in Gangseo-gu, Seoul on the 17th.

Yoo Soo-young, who had been with Black Combat even before it was launched as an official competition company, dominated Black Combat with the best results for about a year and a half. At the Black Combat 02 tournament, he won a unanimous decision over 'Bear Fist' Kim Jeong-gyun in the lightweight division, two weight classes higher than him, and was crowned the lightweight champion. In addition, Yoo Soo-young won against 'Tough' Lee Jin-se in the featherweight title match held at the Black Combat 04 tournament, becoming the first Black Combat champion in two weight classes.

Afterwards, Yoo Soo-young, who competed as a national bantamweight representative in the second Korea-Japan competition between Black Combat and DEEP at the Black Combat 08 event, won the double bantamweight title of Black Combat and DEEP by defeating Koichi Ishizuka, the bantamweight champion of Japan's DEEP. With this, Yoo Soo-young achieved the feat of becoming the first three-weight champion in Black Combat history. In addition, he had a great match with 'Korean Moai' Kim Min-woo, who is very active in the featherweight division, all the way to the 4th round, breaking the record for the largest number of spectators in the history of Black Combat Numbering, reaching 4,000 paid spectators.

The value of the MVP award is bound to shine even brighter as it is an award that is judged fairly by comprehensively judging not only ability, but also star quality, number of game appearances, personality, and contribution to the competition. Yoo Soo-young, who won the MVP by beating Lee Song-ha "Clierro" Lee Song-ha and Won-jun "White Bear" Choi, who were both named as MVP candidates, by more than a majority of votes, achieved two awards, including the "Best Grappler" award.
