The formation of Kappa Delta Sorority began in 1897 at the State Female Normal School, located in Farmville, Virginia. This institution was pivotal, as it became the first home for a sorority that would significantly impact collegiate life for women. Kappa Delta was established by four visionary women: Mary sommers Hundley, Lenora Ashmore Blackiston, Sara Turner White, and Julia Gardner Tyler.
