Arbitrum is an open-source, layer-2 scaling solution for Ethereum. It allows for faster and cheaper transactions by moving some of the computation off the main Ethereum blockchain and onto a sidechain. Arbitrum uses a combination of rollup technology and a virtual machine called the "Optimistic Virtual Machine" to achieve this.
