'Shocked' Mbappe completes Liverpool personal agreement... 'I want £338m!' PSG outrageous offer ends talks
A shocking story has emerged. Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid) almost moved to Liverpool.
The Sun, a British media outlet, reported on Nov. 11 (ET) that Mbappe agreed to join Liverpool two years ago. However, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) demanded a whopping £338 million transfer fee, and the deal fell through.
Mbappe is a soccer star the world watches. He won the 2018 World Cup in Russia and finished runner-up at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with the French national team. He was also the top scorer in Qatar. Mbappe has won trophies with PSG. He has been an integral part of PSG since the 2017-2018 season, when he joined on loan. He has scored 256 goals in 308 appearances for PSG. Mbappe has received offers from 'big clubs' around the world.
'Mbappe almost joined Real Madrid as a free agent in 2022 before re-signing with PSG,' says The Sun. However, PSG were unhappy. PSG paid £150 million for Mbappe,” it said. 'PSG tried to sell Mbappe shortly after re-signing him,' the outlet said, citing a report from French outlet L'Equipe. Liverpool and Real Madrid were in the running for Mbappe at the time. Mbappe reportedly agreed personal terms with Liverpool. At the time, Liverpool were set to pay a transfer fee of £169 million. However, PSG demanded double that amount, to £338 million, and negotiations broke down. Liverpool withdrew their offer, and Real Madrid failed to make a formal bid,” the report added. However, PSG have now denied Lekif's report.
Meanwhile, Mbappe joined Real Madrid as a free agent ahead of the 2024-2025 season. He started in the Super Cup against Atalanta (Italy) and opened the scoring. He led his team to a 2-0 victory. However, he faltered in the Spanish Primera Liga. Mbappe scored his debut goal against Real Betis in September, just before the international break.
