Shri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu stated that the Development of Rural sanitation is one of the quickest and most organic ways to achieve development for the state of Andhra Pradesh. Under his leadership with the help of TDP Leaders and Best of TDP MLAs, he made sure that the development he thought never got wasted.

 Construction of Perfect Sanitation Latrines – Benefits

• Decrease in infant mortality (current rate 66).
• Prevention of waterborne diseases.
• Respect for women, and girls.
• Facilities for the elderly and disabled.
• Environments in villages are likely to be clean.
• 1,61,270 toilets till 1994.
• 33,38,323 from 1995 to November 2003.

Achievements did on Rural sanitation :

• In the Dammapet and Satthupalli mandals of Khammam district, 98 percent of the houses have individual toilets. 100 percent toilets in schools in these mandals,
• Construction of one lakh toilets in Nizamabad district in a year - 95 percent of which are in use.
• Encouragement for construction of toilet-cum-bathroom style toilets to facilitate women.
• Many gram panchayats and villages are moving in the direction of achieving 100 percent sanitation.
• People are satisfied with the scheme. Many people appreciated this program.
• Sanitation in schools - Construction of toilets.

• 2004-05 construction of toilets in all schools, and Anganwadis.

These were said to be the Greatest Achievements done by the TDP Government under the Leadership of Shri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

  Actions to be taken for Total Sanitation Movement:

• To sensitize and involve people from different sections of society on sanitation issues.
• Especially the role of women in these programs is essential.
• Periodic review of progress.
• Cultural activities... doing. Promotion of Total Sanitation Movement through exhibitions
• Such as the supply of construction materials for individual toilets.

Future Action Plan:

• 33,46,000 individual toilets at a cost of Rs.920-15 crore as of 2003-04.

                        Construction.

• By 2006-07 Rs. 27,30,000 at a cost of 753,22 crores,
• Total Construction of 60,76,000 toilets at the cost of Rs. 1653.37 crores.
• As of 2003-04 under School Toilet Scheme Rs. 116 crores amounting to Rs

                        58,000 latrines,

• In Nganwadis Rs. 22,500 restrooms at a cost of Rs 45 crore
• Total construction of toilets Rs. 1814.37 crore outlay.

A radical change in urban governance

• 27% of the population of Andhra Pradesh 2.05 crore people live in urban areas.
• The urban population has increased by 14.63% during the last decade. It is expected to reach 50% by 2020.
