During his tenure, Former Chief Minister Nara  Chandrababu Naidu unveiled a blueprint for the Andhra Pradesh special economic zone (SEZ) - a high-tech commercial enclave to be set up in the state. addressing senior representatives of the US business community in New York, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said the TDP government would set up a 9000-acre duty-free commercial enclave near the port city of Vishakapatnam, the center would offer world-class infrastructure and support services to the corporations, he added, this was the first of the series of road shows to be held in the US, Europe, and middle east to initiate dialogue with potential investors in the Andhra Pradesh Social Economic Zone (APSEZ) project.

Nara Chandrababu Naidu invited investors to visit Andhra Pradesh and see things for themselves before deciding to invest in projects. He said any query e-mailed to the government would get an immediate response from the administration. Chandrababu Naidu further said, there was no cap on foreign direct investment in the zone and added that the investors would get a 10-year tax holiday and would be allowed to repatriate profits and concession in dividend taxes. Tourism opportunity

After placing the foundation stone for linking Kakinada beach, the Konaseema area in East Godavari, and Hope island an Rs.100 crore tourism project. Nara Chandrababu Naidu said the full exploitation of Konaseema tourism potentiality. And also said that a port will be built at Kakinada Special Economic Zone (KSEZ) and the industrial units will come up.

Greenfield port

Relating particularly to KSEZ, he said the Greenfield harbor at Perumallapuram was initially conceived as a captive harbor for the KSEZ units, but it would now be developed as a commercial harbor.

On the proposition to set up an oil refinery in the KSEZ, he said the proposition hadn't yet taken shape. Yet, other industrial units will come up in the KSEZ, he added.

He said that the Rajahmundry airport would be upgraded and the runway would be extended to ease the landing of bigger aircraft.

The Godavari “Pushkar” fete would be celebrated on a big scale in July in both Godavari sections, and the event will draw pilgrims and tourists from all over the country.

Latterly, the Chief Minister visited Rajahmundry and shared in May Day fests and a public meeting on the occasion.
