Bayern Munich is seriously considering reappointing Julian Nagelsmann, 36, as the "Munich veteran," according to reports.

"Munich president Max Ebel wants to bring the current German national soccer team boss back in a big way this summer," German media outlet Bild reported on Wednesday. He will push for Nagelsmann's re-appointment," the outlet reported.

Munich sacked Nagelsmann midway through last season.

Munich brought Tuchel in to replace Nagelsmann, but the team went downhill from there. In 2022-2023, Tuchel was praised for filling Nagelsmann's shoes with a narrow Bundesliga title victory, but in 2023-2024, he led the team's decline. The Bundesliga title is likely to go to Leverkusen. With just over a month left in the season, the goal difference is a whopping 16 points.

The only stage where Munich has a chance of winning is the Champions League. They are in the quarterfinals.

But even then, it won't be easy. Munich drew 2-2 away to Arsenal in the first leg of the quarterfinals. They'll play the second leg at home, but there's no guarantee they'll reach the last four.

The club is back in the hunt for a new coach and has apparently turned to 'Munich veteran' Nagelsmann.

The problem is that Nagelsmann is currently in charge of the German national soccer team. Furthermore, Germany is preparing for Euro 2024 in June on home soil. It's unlikely that Nagelsmann will give up the reins of the national team anytime soon.

Furthermore, Munich don't have a clear prestige to justify the doubters who have questioned Nagelsmann's return to the club after winning the league title but failing in other cup competitions.

Nagelsmann wants to clarify his future before Euro 2024 kicks off. Munich are also trying to figure out how to untangle the complicated process.

What is clear is that Ebel strongly wants Nagelsmann back. If he does come to Munich, he will be Kim Min-jae's new mentor.
