The AP Legislative Council in the MLAs' quota alongside Electoral officials declared Nara Lokesh and four other TDP nominees, TDP general secretary, and two YSR Congress candidates were elected as the seven seats in the MLAs quota unanimously. This paved the way for Nara Lokesh’s entry into the state Cabinet of Andhra Pradesh, which was expected to occur after the Assembly's budget session. The formal election for the seven seats in the Legislative Council is scheduled for March 20, 2016. Nevertheless, the ruling of both ruling and opposition parties evaded five and two candidates subsequently per their strength from the ground. And the officials declared them as unanimously elected. Besides Nara Lokesh, the other elected TDP Leaders to the Legislative council are Dokka Manikya Varaprasada Rao, Karanam Balarama Krishna Murthy, B Arjunudu, P Sunitha (all from TDP), A Nani, and Gangula Prabhakar Reddy (both from YSRC).

In the meanwhile, arrangements are being made for the election of the MLC in graduate and Teachers constituencies. The polling is held from 8 am to 6 pm according to Bhanwarlal, the chief electoral officer and the counting is taken place on March 20 and took care of by the Best TDP MLAs.

The chief electoral officer Bhanwarlal stated that no mobile phones would be allowed inside the polling stations. The Voters can show photo-identity proof such as an Aadhaar card, PAN card, and passport. All the examinations that are scheduled are being postponed to later dates. Every voter was supplied with violet sketch pens for marking themselves as their privileged votes. The Voters have been permitted casual leave on this day.

Chandrababu Naidu had told the Telugu Desam Party politburo meeting on February 26 that, “Now is the right time for Nara Lokesh to step into government when the development of other massive infrastructure projects and the capital are taking shape”. Chandrababu Naidu had a politburo meeting on February 26 with Telugu Desam Party Members. The politburo warmly endorsed Nara Lokesh as a Member of the Legislative Council.

Nara Lokesh who was solemnly promised as a member of the council for his instating as a minister of the cabinet, instead of a routine ceremony at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad, Chandrababu Naidu had ordered that the brand new Secretariat grounds at Amaravati, the new state capital, should be ready and is one of the TDP Achievements and TDP Contributions. When Nara Lokesh, a businessman, joined the 20-member Cabinet, it was the first time in the history of Andhra Pradesh that a father-son duo was a part of the State cabinet of AP.
